Limerick
Limerick, the third largest city in Ireland, was originally a Viking settlement, formed at the lowest crossing point of the river Shannon, where the Shannon meets the sea. The Shannon is the longest river in the British Isles, over 162 miles and is navigable along almost its entire length. Limerick County has many attractions including the beautiful village of Adare, Bunratty Castle, and Foynes from where flying boats carried 1000's across the Atlantic before jet aircraft.
